We are excited to announce that the Call for Abstracts for ACEF 2020 is now open, and the deadline for submissions is Tuesday 31 March 2020!
It is that time of the year—when we reach out to clean energy stakeholders from around the world, seeking abstracts for the Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF), one of Asia’s premier knowledge-sharing and networking platforms. The inclusive Call for Abstracts process that we undertake each year allows practitioners across Asia, and indeed the world, to submit summaries that capture their latest experiences and lessons learned, for presentation during the main forum of ACEF week. Last year, ACEF brought together more than 1,650 people from 78 countries to share their experiences in addressing a wide range of issues facing the clean energy sector. We received nearly 400 abstracts in 2019 for just 100 speaking slots, so the process is very competitive! 
The Thematic Tracks at ACEF provide space for detailed discussions on various sub-sectors and topics of interest in the energy transition. And in particular, they reveal the integrated, multi-sectoral approach that ADB is taking to clean energy development, in line with ADB’s Strategy 2030. Each track is curated by ADB experts, to reflect areas of concern and interest in ADB’s work with its developing member countries (DMCs), and with the energy sector more broadly. There will be 4 thematic tracks at ACEF 2020, and below we list the proposed session topics under each of the tracks:
Track 1: Enhancing Roadmaps for NDCs
- Overview of NDC Implementation in the Context of Climate Change in Asia and the Pacific
- Rural Clean Energy: A Crucial Solution for NDCs
- Technology Roadmaps for Key Technologies: Approaches and Findings
- Technology Roadmaps for Key Technologies: Deep Dives at the Country and Regional Level
Track 2: Multi-sector Approaches: Energy ++
- Economy-wide Energy Evolution
- Solar Energy – It’s Not Just Electricity
- Renewable Energy Services for Livelihoods
- Air Quality Improvement Program in the Greater Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region (by invitation only)
- Supporting Upper Middle Income Countries with a Multisectoral Approach
Track 3: FCAS and SIDS: Resilience in the Face of Fragility and Conflict
- Planning, Designing, and Building for Climate Resilience
- Solar Plus: Alternatives and Enhancements to Solar for Power Generation
- Harnessing the Oceans
- Inclusive Financing and Regulation for Resilience
Track 4: Building Energy Sector Resilience
- Planning for Resilient Energy Infrastructure and Supply Chains
- High-Level Technology and Innovative Design for Power System Resilience
- Managing for Resilience
- Financing Resilience
We prefer abstracts that are more practical than theoretical, and that cover innovations in technology and energy systems. Abstracts can cover new and proven approaches to policy development through both private and public sector collaboration; investment and financing opportunities that help drive the market; community and grassroots initiatives; creative business models and approaches that are gaining traction in Asia; and detailed case studies of best practices and lessons learned throughout the energy and related sectors in Asia.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is Tuesday, 31 March 2020, at Midnight Manila time (+8 GMT). Submissions must be short (no more than 150 words).
